Every June, our SciFi/Fantasy Book Club gives the runners-up from the first half of the year one more chance to steal the show. This year, the confetti falls for Caraval by Stephanie Garber. Join us as we dive into this month's winning read.

Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful and cruel father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.

But this year, Scarlett's long-dreamt-of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to attend. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season's Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, and her sister disappears forever.

We'll have piles of fandom-themed coloring pages waiting for you, featuring everything from Harry Potter and Doctor Who to Star Wars, Marvel, Jane Austen, The Lord of the Rings, and more. Pick your favorite, grab some colored pencils, and settle in for an evening of creativity, conversation, and unapologetic geekery.

We'll provide the coloring pages and pencils and some gel pens, but if you have beloved markers, or other artistic weapons of choice, feel free to bring them along.

This month we’re reading The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig, and we can’t wait to talk about your favorite moments and what kept you reading one more chapter.

Sybil Delling has spent nine years dreaming of having no dreams at all. Like the other foundling girls who traded a decade of service for a home in the great cathedral, Sybil is a Diviner. In her dreams she receives visions from six unearthly figures known as Omens. From them, she can predict terrible things before they occur, and lords and common folk alike travel across the kingdom of Traum’s windswept moors to learn their futures by her dreams.

Just as she and her sister Diviners near the end of their service, a mysterious knight arrives at the cathedral. Rude, heretical, and devilishly handsome, the knight Rodrick has no respect for Sybil's visions. But when Sybil's fellow Diviners begin to vanish one by one, she has no choice but to seek his help in finding them. For the world outside the cathedral’s cloister is wrought with peril. Only the gods have the answers she is seeking, and as much as she'd rather avoid Rodrick's dark eyes and sharp tongue, only a heretic can defeat a god.

Welcome to The Faerie Dragon Inn, where weary travelers are always welcomed with a cup of warm tea, a comfortable seat by the fire, and lively tall tales. But don’t be fooled! This humble cottage is also home to magical mischief. If you’ve ever wanted to live in a cozy fantasy, please join us for the next adventure!

The Geeky Details:

This campaign will run monthly on the second Tuesday from 7-9:30 pm and will only be open to those that register ahead of time.

New players will always be welcomed, as long as there is room in the event.

If you don't know how to make a D&D character prior to attending the event, don't worry our DMs will help you!

We will be playing 5.5 edition D&D. We do have loaner dice sets available to those that need them. If you are creating your own character ahead of time, we are starting at level 1.

We recommend you bring a laptop or tablet with power supply to these gaming sessions.

You are welcome to bring your own food and drink.

Something weird has happened in a modern vampire community living quietly among humans: there’s been a murder at the Vampire Community Potluck, and no one is owning up to it. Now everyone’s a little on edge, secrets are coming out, and even the most “normal” neighbors are starting to look suspicious.

You’re invited to an interactive murder mystery night with a modern vampire twist. Roles will be assigned, and you don’t need any acting experience to participate—just show up ready to have fun. Expect clues, chaos, questionable alibis, and plenty of twists as you try to figure out what actually happened before the whole thing unravels.

Light refreshments will be served.
